Welcome from the PTA 

The mission of the Ella Baker School PTA, in partnership with teachers and school administration, is to ensure our students learn through a social justice lens, and that they and their families have the community support they need to thrive. We commit to using an anti-bias, antiracist, equity-focused lens which will guide and align our work via our PTA committees, educational/extracurricular programming, and fundraising efforts. We commit to supporting the school in implementing a curriculum that reflects these values through professional development opportunities for teachers and providing additional resources that promote antiracism and social justice. It is through collaboration among our community that we will live into our mission.

The PTA Board is so excited to welcome you to the Ella Baker School for our 2021/22 year. We hope you are staying safe; practicing self-care; hugging your loved ones; and enjoying some summer fun and relaxation, despite the difficult past year. Many of us are still experiencing a hard time and may need support and our community more than ever. Remember we are all in this together. We are still here for you, just a call or email away (ellabakerpta@ellabakerschool.org), ready to support your family with resources and or listening ears.

Don’t forget to donate through our donations page on our website to support PTA events; the work of our STEAM, Green and Family Equity Committees; extra-curricular activities like last year’s debate team and coding; our community fund which supports so many of our families; masks, special performances, middle school programming, graduation and more. We hope that you will be our partners in making the Ella Baker School all that it can be for our families by volunteering, donating, advocating, initiating or sharing yourselves and your voice, ideas, wisdom and expertise.
